Insurgents attack Afghanistan peace jirga - latimes.com
While President Hamid Karzai pitched the idea of peace talks with the Taliban to a large tribal gathering in the capital Wednesday, burka-clad suicide-bomb attackers armed with rocket-propelled grenades tried to breach the assembly's heavily fortified compound in an ominous rebuke from the insurgency to the Afghan leader's bid for reconciliation.
All the while Karzai's solution is to negotiate with the Taliban as the US military protects the poppy fields. Not that I care really but if we are going to negotiate with terrorists and help their drug trade along I think that we should at least acknowledge it and stop pretending like we are on the right side of history in Afghanistan.
