    Other ideas taking shape
    •Grouping students not by grade level but by their progress in achieving curriculum standards.

    •Using deeper teacher evaluations that measure the value teachers add to student performance, and developing pay-for-performance standards with the union.

    •Lengthening the school days and the school calendar as necessary to meet achievement goals.

    •Creating individual learning plans for every student and using computer resources and heightened teacher training to help each student reach his or her highest abilities.

    •Freeing up money by eliminating contracts with service providers that duplicate district services.
